My Students
I am an elementary school literacy coach for kindergarten through grade five! I love teaching reading and writing and am passionate about working with teachers. I am very fortunate to be able to teach such a unique and diverse group of learners. My students are curious, energetic, and have a natural zest for learning!

My Project
By attending this institute I will learn the latest thinking around digital literacy and research on nonfiction reading and writing. I will learn how to develop digitally literate students who can navigate comfortably between different forms of media.
I will also learn the most effective ways to use multimodal texts to teach important nonfiction skills and deepen comprehension.
This institute will also address how to empower students to raise questions about the media they consume, and to thoughtfully consider answers to those questions. In a world where students are exposed to near-constant advertisement, digital news, social media posts, visual images, and more, it’s become a crucial skill to be able to view those texts with a critical eye and make choices about what they pay attention to.
