Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The school's media center is a space where discovery, exploration, and creativity interweave while engaging with technology. Students are provided opportunities through projects to learn about how to use different technology to produce various types of media.
Our school's students are very eager to use a variety of materials to design and create to transition from just consuming media to being creators, makers, and inventors.
My students are predominately first-generation Mexican-American children of immigrants in grades K-5. Our school has an active performing arts program and technology program.
Our goal is to deliver students with up-to-date technology and unplugged activities to provide skills that students can use not just in technology fields, but also in different areas while tapping into multiple fields and interests.
My Project
Our school has significantly invested in technology throughout the years, investing in iPads early on. Our devices have begun to become outdated so that it has become essential to start to update and upgrade our current stock of devices to ensure our students continue to have access to world-class technology skills to prepare them for success in the 21st century.
The iPad will provide a tool for students to become top of the line creators, producers, and makers.
Students will create digital media to publish online or share with the teacher. They will explore topics like coding, green screen, stop motion, audio, and video production.
Our school's budget has been significantly cut for the past few years, but we still have the responsibility of making sure our students are obtaining the skills they will need to be successful. This new device will help minimize that gap just a little bit more and assist in meeting our students' digital needs and curiosity.
