Digital Microscopes for Wrangell's 5th Grade Students
My students need 4 Plugable USB 2.0 Digital Microscope with Flexible Arm to use when we are working on science projects, especially working on projects involving place-based science in Wrangell.

My Students
I teach the only fifth-grade class on the entire island of Wrangell. This year I am teaching 22 amazing 10 and 11 years old children, and next year I will have 28 amazing students in my class! My students love to learn about the world around them and share that with other students when we collaborate on Mystery Skype. I am working on doing more place-based lessons in science and social studies so that we can learn even more about our community, island, and state and share it with other classes around the world!
My Project
Using 4 Plugable USB 2.0 Digital Microscopes with Flexible Arms, students will examine and study different things in our place-based science lessons. Students will go out in their natural environment, collect samples, and study them under the microscope. Possible things to collect and examine under the microscope include: local water samples, lichen, mold, rocks and minerals, and parts of trees and plants. Students will practice making observations, inferences, and writing summaries about their findings.
Students can take pictures by using the digital microscopes and use these pictures in their digital projects and presentations.
Students will share their findings with their peers, community members, and other students around the world.
