it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are resilient, hardworking, and optimistic. They arrive to school ready to tackle the day. They are my extended family.
Receiving notes that thank me for helping them learn to read are among the reasons I love my students.
It is fantastic to watch the lightbulb moment on their faces, and then they begin to help one another to learn.
My Project
Education in the time of Covid is especially difficult. Midway through our second year of teaching through the pandemic, supplies and stamina are limited. Most students have returned to in-person learning, with some interruptions due to illness. Digital devices have helped to bridge the gap for distance learners. The digital age as presented new challenges with its successes, of course.
Students need to have the confidence and ability to engage in learning from any location.
I am requesting help purchasing a class set of headphones for my students so all students can engage in the digital aspects of class when they are in the classroom.
English language learners will benefit from the use of the headphones by utilizing listening and translation functions during class. All students will benefit from the headphones during flipped lessons and station activities in which there is a video component which may be distracting to other stations at a higher volume.
Some students do not have the ability to purchase headphones, and the school does not have enough for each classroom to have a set. These would improve the educational environment for my students and their ability to engage with the curriculum. The headphones would be sanitized after each use and stored in a sealed plastic bag. A log would be kept for each set of daily use and sanitization for safety purposes. Thank you!
