My Students
My students consist of inner city children that come from low-income families, some are even homeless. As a teacher in an urban district, I work with four and five year-old students ranging in levels of development. I have several students with special needs (IEPs) that are currently mainstreamed into my general education classroom. One student in particular currently has a personal aide to help support her in her daily school-related tasks.

My Project
Our students enjoy reading and listening to stories. We thought it would be wonderful to add to our current reading area by providing students with a digital library where in addition to physical books, students could access thousands of stories digitally. By having iPads available to students for reading purposes, we are no longer limiting the types of books we currently have available for our students. Providing a digital classroom means students will have access to every book that may possibly interest them immediately. This is so important for our age group as students are always curious and eager to learn more. Providing headphones in this area is essential as to not disturb others trying to read or listen to stories. Also, being that they are young, we would like to pair each device with a protective cover so that we ensure their safety.
