This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am teaching a second and third grade split special day class in a Title I school. My students' parents are unable to provide them with all the school materials they may need. During this time of remote learning, we will begin the year virtually and I would like for my students to have access to materials they will need to be successful. My students do not have sufficient access at home. Parents are currently dealing with loss of employment and health issues worrying about getting their children school materials should not be on their list.
My students are amazing, caring individuals who need more access to materials to help them succeed.
In these very technologically-driven times, it is very important for our students to continue to have a passion for learning. This will help prepare them for obstacles they will need to work through, whether they be social-emotional or academic, that worrying about materials will not be a variable.
My Project
Sending home these kits will make a tremendous impact on my students and their accommodations. Students will have math manipulatives to help them with their tactile learning. They will also serve as better visuals because they will have access to them in their homes. In my student’s kits there will be a timer, dice, counters, and coins for them to use and follow along in their virtual classroom.
My students get fueled up by little things that may not seem like much to others but really mean the world to them.
They will have access to color pencils, sharpeners and pencil pouches to keep their materials in order. Using these kits safely from home students will be able to follow along in our virtual classroom. This will help motivate my students, as well as provide them with school supplies their parents were not able too.
