Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from a low-income neighborhood where a majority of the students receive free breakfast and free lunch. Many of the students come into kindergarten unable to recognize letters or read and often do not have the resources to be able to read at home in order to better their reading abilities.
Even though my students have many factors working against them, they are enthusiastic learners that deserve to be provided with resources to help them succeed!
César Chávez said, “Once social change begins, it cannot be reversed. You cannot uneducate the person who has learned to read. You cannot humiliate a person who feels pride. You cannot oppress the people who are not afraid anymore. We have seen the future, and the future is ours.” That is especially true of our students, who succeed and go on to be high-achieving leaders in our world.
We are committed as a community to work together to provide the best learning environment for our students. Through high expectations and a strong family connection, we help our students achieve academic and emotional success. My students are hard workers and truly want to be in school.
My Project
This class is undergoing some big changes. Their first teacher of the school year is retiring and I am taking over for the remaining of the school year.
I would like to make this transition as smooth as possible for these young 4-5-year-old learners by providing engaging digital resources to keep the student learning progress and engagement high.
With the gift card, I plan on purchasing a digital morning meeting resource, digital word wall, and other fun and engaging resources. Please help make learning fun during these trying times.
