This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are my children! We may not all be together during this pandemic but we are still a family! They are full of wonder, joy, and enthusiasm to learn! Their personalities and eagerness to learn literally show through the screen.

I think it was the first day of school this year when I realized these were a wonderful bunch.

From day one they were expressing themselves and participating as if we've known each other for years. It was amazing! Especially since my fear at the beginning of the year was, how am I going to connect with my students.

My Project

Stylus Pens will help my kindergarteners be successful in their learning during this pandemic. Since our school is doing both remote and face to face learning. Our learning activities and practice are all done on iPads. Due to this, tactile learning has been put on the back burner. This has removed traditional handwriting practice from our curriculum. Students still practice tracing letters and words but it is done with their fingers, which is not an effective way of developing handwriting. Using a pencil-like stylus would give my student the opportunity to still develop this crucial basic skill that they will use their entire lives.
