FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Wright's classroom raised $572
This project is fully funded
I am a 29 year old teacher of a class of 29 bright, loving and amazing second grade students. I work in a very impoverished area of the South Bronx. Although I am not from the area, there is something about the kids that go to my school that I have become very attached to. I truly feel that I can make a huge impact on their lives.
P.S. 90 is an extremely large school that spans an entire city block. It runs from kindergarten to fourth grade. There are over 1,500 students in my school. My kids have so much to deal with before they even enter the classroom. They have seen and heard too much in their short lives. I do my best to protect my kids, love them and give them the best education that I possibly can.
Over the years, I have noticed that my kids have very few pictures of themselves. At the beginning of every year, I ask each student to bring in a baby picture. Many say that they don't have any pictures of themselves. I can't imagine what it would be like to grow up without pictures to look back on.
I would love to get a digital camera to take pictures of my kids for them to keep. I use a regular 35mm camera to take pictures of my kids on a weekly basis right now. They get very excited and constantly ask when I'm going to get the pictures developed. I would love to be able to give them the pictures right there and then. They can view it on our class computer and print it out themselves! I take my kids on many class trips, and I also love to take pictures of them during everyday memorable moments. Every child should have that to look back on.
