Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My elementary students are just returning to full time in person instruction. They are back and ready to create! It is certainly interesting teaching and learning during the COVID-19 Pandemic, but they are rising to the challenge.
My students are a diverse group, they are a mix of general education students, special education students and English Language Learners.
In addition to learning about different mediums, mentor artists and art history, my students enjoy reading diverse books about a variety of artists and engaging in STEAM activities.
My students are eager to learn and I enjoy teaching, mentoring and shaping the minds of tomorrow's leaders.
My Project
Last year students were learning in a hybrid model and we tried and learned new applications to create art digitally from home. Students still bring their school provided devices to school and really enjoy creating digital art. We have had to go virtual for a week this school year due to the rise in Covid numbers so students created digital artwork from home that week. There is still an interest in digital art, specifically a Kehinde Wiley inspired self-portrait we are working on now. I would love to be able to print and display their artwork after we finish for our school's Black History Month Showcase. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
