Help me give my students a powerful reading experience by supporting our Donors Choose project to get a class set of “Hoyos”, the Spanish edition of “Holes”, for our dual language classroom.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach an incredible group of 6th grade dual language students who are not only learning grade-level content, but doing so in two languages. My students are hardworking, curious, and full of determination. They embrace challenges and cheer each other on every step of the way. What makes them truly special is their commitment to growing as bilingual and biliterate learners!
My goal for this project is to provide my students with a class set of “Hoyos” the Spanish version of “Holes”, so they can experience high-quality literature in their target language.
Reading a novel like “Hoyos”together will help them develop stronger reading comprehension, build academic vocabulary in Spanish, and give them a chance to discuss big ideas like justice, friendship, and resilience-all in a language they are learning to master.
This project will not only support their academic growth but also affirm their identities as bilingual scholars. With your support, my students will gain access to a meaningful literary experience that deepens their love for reading and learning.
