My Project

Help my second-grade class to purchase fossil dig kits that will allow children to experience the thrill of paleontology firsthand. With this kit, students can excavate, identify, and learn about real fossils, sparking curiosity and a love for science that could last a lifetime.

As I think about ending the school year, it can be a difficult time to keep my learners engaged!

This year I would love to end the year with some exciting, hands-on learning. We have worked so hard this year to become readers, writers, and scientists and now, we would like to culminate all of that with our Dinosaur Day Novel study!

Dinosaur digs, making our fossils, watching a volcano erupt, learning what paleontologists do, comparing weights and heights of dinosaurs, hatching dinosaurs, and reading about dinosaurs will help us review so many skills and continue to learn engagingly!

What is more fun than digging through sand to find dinosaur bones and using our observation skills (and magnifying glasses) to learn more about them, except maybe hatching our dinosaurs? We will read about a paleontologist and different kinds of dinosaurs. We will learn how fossils are used to give us information about the past! We will put our writing skills to work when we choose which dinosaur we want to learn more about and write a nonfiction response about it! We will use our creative writing to tell a story about our very own dinosaur we will paint!
