My students need materials to properly understand the concept of close reading and continue their love of learn what they are learning. The Leap pads are necessary for phonics and math for independent work.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have been teaching for 4 wonderful years. I started teaching in an inner-city school and learned so many classroom management skills that have created a safe, organized, friendly/organized classroom environment in my current suburban school.
My classroom is filled with many different types of kids from many different backgrounds and nationalities, that is what I love about them.
They are kind, polite and excited learners. They always have a book in their hands and really enjoy reading funny picture books as a class!
My Project
My students love to learn to read. They are so proud once they can put a sentence together! They love to sit and read with buddies.
Kindergartners also love to learn through hands on fun.
I discovered Hot Dots this year and am so excited about them, I want to add a Hot Dot for each math and reading subject we do. Hot Dots provide the students questions and reading passages and the students use the Hot Dots pen to choose the correct answer. They are then told by the special pen if they are right or wrong. This helps me while I am doing small groups with other students. The Hot Dots are great center activities to build their knowledge and understanding of the standards we study (math and reading).
When I work at the back table with my small groups, the students typically are working in centers. The Leap Pads will be a great addition to our center rotations and will be so fun for them. With our world very technology- based now, my students learn a lot from them. I have very old Leapsters and they are broken half of the time. My students get very frustrated with them so I want to be able to replace them.
