Digging Deep into Nonfiction Text

My Students

My happy and kind classroom is full of second graders who have such imaginative and creative sides. They are full of energy and love for others and learning. They are working on developing independence and responsibility in 2nd grade in our room.

I have a great group of students currently in my classroom who come from a variety of life experiences and opportunities.

The majority of my students are on free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast with limited experiences.

My Project

My students need to have access to high interest engaging nonfiction text. My classroom has many great novels but these resources will provide examples of nonfiction text relevant to my students and their lives. I think the pair text would be great to show the differences between fiction and nonfiction text features based on the same topic.

With your help, my students will gain access to a wealth of knowledge through nonfiction text.

I have many struggling readers that find s connection with nonfiction text and those students would really benefit from these great texts in our classroom.
