it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Who wouldn't want to dig around in the sand for letters, fish for numbers or build words out of legos? My kindergartners love manipulating objects and learning through hands-on activities. Why not learn letters, numbers and sounds while doing things you enjoy. Well, we think learning should be fun!
My spirited, ambitious kindergartners are a group of twenty-three 5 and 6 year olds that enjoy learning by doing.
My kids are mostly English language learners that learn best by a lot of hands-on, engaging activities that allow them to practice the concept in multiple ways.
Our school is a K-5 Title I public school that is focusing on improving literacy and incorporating writing throughout our day. We are dedicated to ensure every child succeeds and we look forward to seeing each student grow as a learner.
My Project
Engaging students with a variety of fun ways to learn their alphabet, sounds, and numbers creates a foundation for the love of learning. Getting your hands dirty in the sand table digging for letters or fishing for numbers gets kids excited about coming into the classroom and learning the skills they need to succeed in Kindergarten. Building letters and words with legos helps kids be creative yet works on the fundamental skill of alphabet recognition and allows them to create a fun, lasting memory. Doing puzzles to match rhyming words or beginning sounds, manipulating letter magnets to create sight words, stamping and filling in the missing letter sound, sorting items to match their beginning and ending sounds creates the illusion of play when they are really practicing and mastering an important literacy skill. The resources would create hours of center activities that keep the kids excited, engaged, and active participants in their own learning.
Providing access to a variety of ways to practice their alphabet, letter sounds, number recognition, sight words, and word building allows all learners to be successful and motivated to master the skills being taught.
Having interactive, enjoyable ways to build letters, create sentences, match letters and numbers, and construct math problems give students the opportunity to have fun while learning and instill the love of learning at a young age.
