Help me give my students quick access to color printed learning materials, individually leveled work packets, and social stories that will last with a classroom Color Printer and Coil Binding Machine.
Working in Special Education requires a lot of differentiation and individualization, especially when it comes to working with students with diverse learning and social abilities. I have the privilege of working with K-5 students this year in a Special Education Resource Room. I have relied heavily on my classroom printer and purchasing supplemental materials to enrich and differentiated for my diverse group of students.
Having quick access to a printer and coil binding machine will allow me to create differentiated materials when I need them without having to wait.
It will also allow my students access to printing and binding their own work.
A huge benefit of having a classroom coil spiral binding machine and a color printer is to create my own instructional materials and to put together instructional materials that I have purchased. This is essential for students with disabilities that need more flexible and differentiated support/materials, need additional practice to generalize their skills or need visual supports such as pictures or social stories to help them develop social thinking skills. The Coil Binder will allow me to bind my own differentiated student workbooks and social stories for both classroom and home use and teacher materials that will be re-use throughout many years. The printer will allow me to quickly print social stories, needed visuals or worksheets to supplement a lesson we have done. The added bonus of a classroom printer is the wireless capability. The students will have access to using the color printer and can learn to type and edit their work and binding all their writing work at the end of the year to take home. This year, I will be heavily using both items to put together Tara West's Science Based Reading Curriculum: Guided Phonics and Beyond.
