Differentiating Instruction With iPads

My students need 6 iPad Minis, cases and headphones to enhance their education in our kindergarten classroom.

My Students

I love running stations in my room.The children are in groups and rotate through several stations,including a reading station that I lead. I love seeing my students become readers by the end of the school year! A big challenge is getting them to do school work after they leave me for the day.

I have started the year with 19 wonderful kindergarten students, with more enrolling almost daily.

They all receive free breakfast and lunch. Several of them have never been in school before, and are already behind the 8 ball. Some of the stories of their home lives are terribly sad. It is hard to believe that they are 5 years old and have experienced so much in their little lives already. They are a group of young children who are ready to be molded and inspired. They need encouragement and motivation to help them become the best learners they can possibly be!

My Project

I intend to use the iPads at an independent station where there will be a maximum of 6 children. The children will rotate to that station with their group each day. There can be apps installed that reach all of the children, based on their individual levels. Some may need to work on alphabet and number recognition, while others may be ready to learn sight words and simple addition and subtraction.

My students deserve to be exposed to materials that will help them become life long learners, in a world full of technology.

I truly believe these iPads will be a motivation that will help move them forward in their education!
