Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school, located by the famous Bronx Zoo, is filled with the the laughter and smiles of our beautiful Pre-k to 8th grade students. But there are some children, our exceptional students, who face many obstacles and challenges at school and within their communities. This wonderful group of exceptional children won't let anything get in their way of learning and having fun while they do so.
Our pre-K to 8 school is comprised of the most amazing students which include our exceptional needs students.
Many of these students must contend with various disabilities ranging from learning and speech delays to intellectual disabilities.
As part of a Title I school, the majority of these students' families have great financial needs. 96% of our students are in need of basic services and qualify for the free or reduced lunch program. Recognizing these needs, our teachers turn to donors like you to help us provide basic supplies for our children. Every donation directly helps these students!
My Project
The supplies being requested will become math stations that have activities, games, and learning tasks. These stations will enhance their math fluency, concept development, and promote math discourse with their peers. As a special educator, I need to provide multiple strategies and activities to ensure all learners, regardless of level, will be successful. I will be working with elementary students who demonstrate math abilities that fall below, on and above their listed grade level. Every learner has strengths and weakness in the different topics covered within their math curriculum. Math centers are a great, hands-on way to make this happen.
