This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 9th - 12th grade students with Autism in a moderate-severe classroom setting, at a school located in South East Los Angeles, California.

My students have needs unique to each individual and work on communication, managing behavior, daily living skills, and job readiness.

My students require supports such as small class setting, hand under hand assistance, verbal/visual prompts and cues, all work broken down into smaller steps with continual repetition, simple short language, and pictures to help express wants and needs.

My Project

My students require adaptive supplies such as adaptive scissors and tripod grip writing tools to help them learn and work on projects and activities in the classroom. Each student has a unique set of abilities and learn in different ways. Some are non-verbal and have limited motor movement which impacts their ability to progress in the general education curriculum.

My students learn best through hands-on, multi-sensory and kinesthetic activities.

Donating will help supply my students with materials and equipment that will help them succeed throughout the school year. Not only will they be exposed to the curriculum in multiple modalities, but they will be provided with activities and projects that I will create to support their learning and understanding.
