Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every school year is a new adventure. Everyone is treated as family and challenges are tackled one at a time. Each student is expected to do their best and teaching is meaningful, fun, and with the brain in mind. "We are responsible because we are response-able." -Os Guiness
I teach in a low income school with a high population of English Language Learners (ELL) students.
I serve two classes during the school day with high, medium and low students. My students learn best through different "scenarios" like lectures, manipulatives, drawing models, computer programs, pencil & paper, centers, games, and others.
My Project
The four computers will be used under the different task, but mostly during differentiated instruction through centers. After a whole class topic instruction, the students will be divided in three groups to start the centers time. One will go to the computer center to work in iReady or Reflex, which provide specific and individualized instruction/reinforcement and practice in basic skills and benchmarks. Another group will take a folder to work in the problem solving center, where the have to explain how they found the answer of each problem given. The last group will practice the lesson given that day with me, in that way I tackled any misconception in a small group setting. Each center is twenty minutes.
This project will enhance the use of the time in a way that the students will be able to receive an education according to their needs.
This will provide us an advantage in the availability of this educational tool, since right now we only have two old computers that sometimes didn't work properly.
