I currently teach in a K/1 combination class.
I have five students that require specially designed instruction with the support of an Individualized Education Plan in a classroom full of six kindergarteners and fourteen first graders.
As we embark on a new school year my hope is to create an inclusive environment and build a classroom community that inspires students to strive to do their best to be successful and to become life-long learners.
My Project
This iPad mini tablet will allow me to use, in small groups, technology daily, to bring the outside world to the students and to differentiate learning activities with support and challenge. Students will use the iPad mini in partnerships, independently, and in small groups to explore bookmarked sites from the Internet which will help deepen their understanding of science and math content, use educational apps to supplement their learning in class, and do internet research and exploration for class projects.
Technology can be such a powerful tool in the classroom.
It can open students eyes to the outside world through images, videos, communication tools, and more. It is empowering for students as they take charge of their learning experiences. It can also be extremely motivating for kids - a way to engage students who are struggling with content or behavior. This project will absolutely make a difference in students' lives!
