Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember working in centers when you were in school? They can be both fun and rewarding when students move from center to center to get extra help with hands-on activities.
My students are from kindergarten-fourth grade special education.
Our school is classified as high low poverty, with a high percentage of the students receiving free or reduced breakfast and lunch. My students range from being high functioning, to students that are low functioning.
My Project
The resources that I am asking for would help out in my classroom so I am able to move around the classroom, to help and assist with small groups at a time. The colorful, and welcoming feel to these materials will get my students excited to use the centers. Since I work with students from K-4 in both reading and math, the sight word learning tub will help build skills with reading, writing, and spelling. Also, the writing and reading stations students will use include step-by-step instructions to find the main idea in a passage, build compound words, and sort beginning and ending sounds, all with the complete reading and writing set. When it comes to math, I will be able to then let students work independently or with a peer buddy to find the area of a house, solve time and money riddles, and sort and match fractions!
This project is important to me, because resources that are hands-on, bright and colorful, will help my students learn the rigorous Common Core Standards while having fun with these engaging materials.
