Help me give my students do a comparative analysis project by reading 1984 (already have copies of this) and then reading The Handmaid's Tale and reflecting on the different values of the authors and societies that created them.

My Project
I intend to make students read two classics in the Dystopian Literature genre, 184 and The Handmaid's Tail. I will split them into groups. Each group will read one of the books. Then, they will complete an analysis of the book, including an essay, but also they will collectively make a guide to the book and the values it embodies, both the values of the society, and the values the author is using to critique the society. Then, they will switch, and using the guides provided by the other group, they will read the book and critique how well the other group analyzed the book.
This will help them build the skills they need to be good citizens of the United States--understanding values that are alien to their own, and how people use rhetoric to influence each other.
