My Students
As a new art teacher at my school I have walked into an art program with very few supplies and resources. I am hoping to develop a program which will inspire and motivate my students, but I am in desperate need of materials to do so.
My school is located in a small rural area in Central Oklahoma.
Approximately 75% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. We are a small school with limited resources but highly talented students. I teach Art to the entire school population, Pre-K through 12th grade. I have found that my students are very eager to create and learn. It is indeed a challenge to engage such a wide variety of age groups on a daily basis using limited resources.
My Project
With the limited time I have with each age group it can be difficult to create completed projects in a timely manner. The Cricut machine and its cartridges will help to formulate projects where students can assemble pre-cut shapes and have time to add their own creativity to their project. Also, because the machine works quickly, I can offer in class customization on a student by student basis. My students also enjoy making school-wide posters for our various events and programs. Having the Cricut machine will help them customize each one, again in a timely and creative manner.
The Cricut machine will be an invaluable tool in my art classroom.
It will bring current technology to the class, offer a wide variety of applications, and enhance my students' creative efforts.
