My Project

My enthusiastic kindergarten students love to create art! Through art, the students have been able to strengthen their motor skills, express their thoughts, build confidence, and internalize their lessons. Most recently they have learned how to incorporate art and trash for their science project. Prior to summer (and for the students next school year), I will talk about the affects of plastics in our ocean and on our land. Here in Hawai'i we are surround by beaches. I want to instill in my young learners how their choices today, can affect the environment in the long run. But more importantly, I want to instill in my students, that we all have a responsibility to take care of the land and that we can have fun at the same time!

In celebration of Earth Day, I want to extend my students knowledge beyond the classroom. I plan on having my students use their beach tools to play and clean our Hawai'i shores. In addition, any I want the students to create upcycled pieces of art to beautify their learning environment and promote "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle." An art rack in the classroom would greatly be appreciated as their is limited space to dry artwork. As the saying goes, "The future is now!" Please help me to help my students, and in turn help our community and planet earth!
