My Project
I am a special education teacher in NY. My school is an Early Childhood Center that ranges from Pre-K to Grade 2. We have a large population of English language learners. The staff at our school pride ourselves on creating a love of learning in young children so they may carry it with them throughout their lives.
The students in my class have been diagnosed with disabilities such as speech and language disorders, learning disabilities, and delays in motor skills.
They have several different learning styles, and it is often a challenge to meet the specific needs of each and every child.
I am requesting a class subscription to Scholastic News that will be accessible in print and digitally. Scholastic News is a weekly nonfiction magazine that is engaging, builds nonfiction-reading skills, and increases content-area knowledge. My students are so interested in nonfiction topics and they will be so excited to receive their own personal magazine in the classroom. This subscription comes with 4 magazines a month, along with access to real life videos that go along with each lesson. There are also writing projects and games that will keep my students excited about each topic.
I know that this subscription will help ignite that early love of learning that is so important to create in my young students!
