Help me give my students yoga and social-emotional learning resources so they can learn to identify and manage emotions, develop confidence, and create a healthy lifestyle from a young age.

My Project

These resources will be used for my kids’ yoga class designed specifically for children living in inner-city environments, aged between five and eight years old. My goal is to create a supportive, engaging, and nurturing space where these young learners can explore yoga in a way that resonates with their experiences and backgrounds.

By incorporating a variety of carefully selected activities, storytelling, movement, breathing exercises, and mindfulness practices, I aim to help these children develop a strong foundation of essential social-emotional skills.

This includes fostering self-awareness, emotional regulation, empathy, patience, and resilience—all crucial for their overall wellbeing and success both inside and outside the classroom.

My students are naturally curious and eager to learn, which is a wonderful asset that I want to nurture through fun, interactive, and meaningful experiences. I believe that yoga can be a powerful tool to not only improve their physical health but also to support their mental and emotional growth, helping them manage stress, build confidence, and cultivate a positive sense of self.

Through these resources, I hope to empower each child to recognize their own strengths, develop healthy coping strategies, and feel a sense of belonging and safety in our class. Ultimately, my aim is to inspire a lifelong appreciation for self-care, mindfulness, and kindness that will serve them well throughout their lives.
