Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Learning to write programs stretches your mind, and helps you think better, creates a way of thinking about things that I think is helpful in all domains," Bill Gates said and I agree. Coding is very important and our students need to learn these skills to be able to apply them in the future.

I work with a large culturally and linguistically diverse group of learners.

I work with students with autism, specific learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, and students who may benefit from small group interventions. Close to 90% of students are eligible for free or reduced price lunch, and about 60% of our students are English language learners.

My Project

By using the Sphero robots my students will learn how to program and enhance their higher level thinking skills. Coding is the language of computers and by teaching them coding, it will challenge my students to do STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) related activities. My students will learn how to create mazes and program the robots to get through them, along with exploring area and perimeter. The keyboards will be use along with our tablets to teach my students keyboarding skills. This will help them when they need to type their final papers. The power adapters and cables will be use to charge our tablets. The headphones will be use for the computer station when they are listening to stories. They will also use headphones when they are using the tablets. The speakers will be use when the students are doing presentations. My students create digital presentations and then they present them to the class. The speakers will ensure that the students are able to hear.

Please help my students by contributing to 6 Sphero B-8 App-Enabled Droid, 5 keyboards, 4 power adapters and cables, along with 20 headphones & speakers for our class to develop critical thinking skills.

These resources will help my students have a better understanding of technology. These resources will help support my students by giving them access to computer science education, empower them to make things, enhance their curiosity, and gain the creative confidence to bring their ideas to live.
