Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Please help our classroom fill our shelves and students' minds with reference materials. There are 6 teachers in my grade level that need to share a set of dictionaries older than their teacher! I have only 3 atlases and 1 thesaurus which makes it difficult for the entire class to use.

These twenty-one students that you will be helping out attend a low-income public school.

Most of my wonderful students are children whose parents are immigrants and migrant workers. They are the brightest kids with so much potential.

My Project

Imagine for a minute, a classroom with materials for all students. No sharing one material with four others. Not having to borrow an entire class set from another teacher. It seems as if this would be the standard, but with money growing increasingly scarce, it has become our reality. The students will use the dictionaries and thesauruses to check, improve, and widen their oral vocabulary and writing projects. Atlases will be used to explore new places as well as in our social studies lessons and projects. The colorful pictures in these specially chosen atlases will heighten their interest in the world we live in.

These donations would make an immense impact in a multitude of ways.

It will give them a chance to be more creative with their oral and writing skills. It will also create an interest in learning about our world's locations and reading maps.
