My students need 5 dictionaries and 5 thesauruses that they can use to acquire new vocabulary words to use in their everyday writing, reading and speech.
Help make our leaders of tomorrow better spellers and readers. My students and I are challenged by the lack of dictionaries available to us. They enjoy learning new words and trying to acquire their meanings on their own. Hence, the need for appropriate leveled dictionaries.
Most of my students are ELL learners, who are starving to gain vocabulary knowledge.
They really enjoy word study; this reaches across all subjects that they are learning. My students face many challenges at home, belonging to low- income families whom are trying to provide basic necessities. Dictionaries and thesauruses are a challenge at home as well as in the classroom. Help make our leaders of tomorrow better spellers and readers. My Project
With these resources at my students’ fingertips it will allow them to blossom as writers, readers and speakers. All too often my students are spelling words incorrectly or using immature language because they are not exposed to the knowledge of a dictionary. My students are fighting with each other over the use of the few dictionaries that we do have available to us in the classroom. With your help we can make a difference!
My students are a wonderful group of kids with enough obstacles in their home lives.
I feel that when they come to school they should have the supplies needed to be successful. Having the ability to use proper resources in our classroom will help to bridge the already spacious gap that these children feel they need to cross to achieve academic success. My students always make due with what we have, yet I feel that the simple gift of dictionaries would make life a bit easier for them.
