My Students
We have a great natural area on our school property that is completely underutilized. A water filled dug out and weed covered area needs some tender loving care to create an outdoor classroom for our entire school.
Our middle school students are eager and excited to DO SCIENCE!
We live in a rural area but our students do not spend much time outside. They have some great ideas about what we can do with our outside area we just need some supplies to get them started.
My Project
The testing kits and water collection tools will help our students decide what possibilities they have with our outdoor area. The kits will begin the student's scientific work and will help them decide what the area can support with regards to native species and habitat.
The students have a large project that they would like to complete. The project will be taking an old dugout and turning it into an outdoor classroom for the entire school. The students are aware that this will be a huge undertaking and will be ongoing for many years.
Our students are showing interest in a very large project.
This will be the first step that will put their ideas in motion. It is important that they have a positive experience with their first encounters. Without these supplies, we may try to complete the testing but it will be a much more daunting task and may cause their interest to wane.
