My Students
My students are fun, compassionate, and curious young children. When they arrive at school in the morning, they race to the schedule, excited to find out what is on the agenda for the day. Every day is fresh, new, and exciting!
Our school is one of the most diverse in the district, and is located in a tight-knit community in the heart of San Francisco.
Many of my students' cousins, parents, and even grandparents have attended our school! The community bond shows through as students giggle, play, and learn together throughout the day.
My Project
Kindergarteners know a lot about the world before they even come to school! This year, my students are experts on dinosaurs, insects, babies, and Disney princesses, among other things.
I want to teach my students to draw and write to teach their classmates, teachers, and community about all the amazing topics they are interested in!
After asking the advice of other primary teachers, I have carefully selected books with engaging topics, large and detailed pictures, and simple text. By featuring these amazing books during read alouds and writing lessons, I hope to inspire my young writers to do what skilled authors do: study their topic, draw and label detailed diagrams, and write facts that make their readers say, "WOW!"
