This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My Essentials in Education class has researched how to create a school garden, aligned to child-development theorists, to support our interdisciplinary Academy model. From using the garden to teach our in-house preschool students about plants and vegetables, to allowing our culinary arts department have access to the freshest vegetables and herbs. Our science classes and special education classes can use the garden to guide their academic needs, and my education class can continue to maintain the grounds, and harvest extra bounty. The tools requested are vital to finalizing our student garden, "The Hatters Patch" at DHS. From fencing to deter pests, small animals, and even the occasional wandering student, to raised bed materials to ensure our garden remains organized and secure, these supplies will guarantee our garden success.
