My students need an updated library collection of 12 books about computers and the Internet.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. B.'s classroom raised $405

We’re telling the truth: We need nonfiction.
I am the media specialist of the middle school in a rapidly growing school district. Our library is a very busy place serving approximately 930 sixth-eighth graders with all their reading and researching needs.
For three years now my assistant and I have diligently worked to pull worn, dirty, dry-rotting books. In addition, I have been faced with the monumental task of updating the library. The district increased my budget a little this past year to help with this, but once again I am facing setbacks.
Our district is growing by leaps and bounds, which is wonderful. As a result, we are building a new campus with one grade moving to a different campus, and I’m required to move 1/3 of our books with them. I recently had an analysis completed of my collection. What I found out astounded me! Even after all the work we have done, my nonfiction collection is outdated and already below the suggested number of items for our size school. There is no way I can update our library to give students the selection they need and deserve without outside funding.
For my project, I have chosen to focus on the Dewey decimal sections that seem to have the most deficiencies. The Dewey section ranging 003-007 that contains books relating to Systems Data/Computer Programs is 100% outdated based on the analysis performed by the circulation system our school uses. Book topics cover careers in computers, dangers of online predators, viruses, history of computers, etc. With the growing number of jobs in computers, I would like the library to offer books about the available technological changes and jobs in their business.
Your donation will make it possible for me to provide our students the information they deserve in our ever-changing global society.
