Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My special education classroom consists of 12 preschool-age students, ages from 3-5, with different needs. My main goal is to provide a fun and engaging classroom experience for all learners! My students learn best through play-based, hands-on learning. I strive to provide appropriate learning experiences for all my children that meet their individualized needs.
The art supplies I am requesting will help create an organized art center and promote safety (child-safe tape dispenser) to build independence skills and spark creativity.
I plan to use the beanbag in our cozy corner, which will provide a retreat for my students to relax and regulate.
All of the sensory materials (balls, beads, sand, rice) will be used as fillers for our classroom sensory bins. My students learn best through sensory exploration and by interacting with the materials in the bin to help further develop their sensory processing skills.
Sensory bins have been shown to help develop cognitive skills (ex: sorting items and understanding volume) while providing a calming experience for children who are overstimulated and may prevent meltdowns.
Each of these materials will help foster all students' imaginative play skills. Thank you in advance for donating to my project for my students!
