This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Beyond learning audio-visual mass communication skills, an important mission of our program is to stimulate all students to be engaged on activities that are relevant to them, finding belonging, which ultimately reflect on their academic life and mental health.

Our newscasts play a crucial role in bringing to light, from students' perspectives, different programs many students and families don't know about and encouraging them to join.

Another aspect of our newscast that supports this mission is the inclusivity we promote by featuring, on camera, the diversity of our school. We use mostly professional cameras, provided by the school, yet many students don't have the means to acquire storage devices such as SD cards and

Using mics for cell phones should demonstrate to students that, independently of owning professional equipment, each one of them can produce professional quality stories.

Last, but certainly not least, many students come hungry to class (teens eat so much!) and very often ask for snacks. Whenever I can, I buy crackers and fruits, but it sure adds up!
