Developing Technology Savvy Whiz Kidz

My students need an iPad to enable them to become more engaged in class projects and research. They will develop confidence and participate more fully in their education.

My Students

This is the age of technology and my students need to be exposed to advanced technology to gain confidence in themselves. They need to experience how to handle and use technology in order to compete with the world outside the classroom.

My students are special education fourth and fifth graders in a Title 1 Public Elementary School with many challenges.

They are mostly visual and auditory learners with inquisitive minds and outgoing personalities. However, they have a very limited idea of the outside world. Even though they are eager to learn, they have a very short attention span and the iPad will aid in maintaining their interests.

My Project

Incorporating the iPad during small group instruction will enable students to become more confident in using technology. They will be able to use technology more effectively as they develop educationally. They will use the iPad to explore and find out more about the world around. They will be able to work independently or in groups to research projects we are working on in class. They will be able to make connections with the outside world by creating and exchanging ideas with students in other cities and countries at a faster pace. They will learn about other cultures and countries while also developing skills they are interested in. They will also be able to download teaching or practice apps to aid them in understanding concepts they have not fully grasped and to look up topics they will like to pursue further.

The iPad will make a great difference to the learning environment in my classroom.

Students will be motivated, engaged and curious to use the iPad to become more technologically minded and to use it to research the world around them. They will also use the iPad to increase their academic abilities by taking responsibility for their learning, as I support them in looking for topics they need to familiarize themselves with, as they develop educationally.
