FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Wright's classroom raised $343

I am a 29 year old teacher of a class of 29 bright, wonderful and lovable second grade students. I taught first grade for the past six years. Last year, my class did so amazingly well that my principal asked me to keep the class together and follow them up to second grade. I happily accepted the challenge.
I work in an extremely impoverished area of the South Bronx. Although I am not from the area, there is just something special about the kids that go to my school that I have become very attached to. I truly feel that I can help my students and make a difference in their lives. My kids have so much to deal with before they even walk into the classroom. If I don't help them, who will?
Having my students for a second year is amazing. I now truly feel like they are my own kids! I know all of their strengths and weaknesses, their likes and dislikes and I know exactly what it takes to put a smile on each of their faces. That is what brings me the greatest joy. Many of my kids do not have much to smile about.
Last year, I bought a small bin of Lego's for my class to use in the afternoon a few days a week. Some of my students had never seen Lego's before. Many of them were awkward with manipulating the pieces and creating objects. As the year went on, their motor skills grew stronger and they were able to create masterpieces!
Unfortunately, from wear and tear, that set of Lego's that I bought last year is missing most of the pieces and the bin is broken. I would LOVE to be able to give my children the abilitity to use their fine motor skills to create masterpieces (and have some fun) with Lego's and educational puzzles. I know that this will bring a smile to all of my childrens' faces. Myself, as well as my students, would be incredibly grateful. Thank you.
