A typical day in my classroom would include student engagement to get the students really excited about history. My high school social studies students must be able to relate to history and visualized the story I am trying to convey to them from my instruction.
The student body makeup is 53 percent male and 47 percent female.
The total minority enrollment is 99 percent. Even though most of my students are economically disadvantaged, they still come to school with a smile on their face ready and eager to learn. With so many outside forces pulling most of the males away from school, it is my job to keep them motivated enough to stay in school.
My Project
My students will be able use the chart paper for group work and learning centers. Some of the things my students will learn about is geography, their state, wars, and about early modern times in history. They can create maps, timelines, etc. with the color pencils and markers. My classroom does not have a set of classroom books nor books to take home, so the resource books will be very helpful for my visual learners. Most of my student write using a pencil so a powered pencil sharper is needed in my classroom because the handheld ones always break.
The donations will improve my classroom because my students will feel like they have everything they need to be successful in my classroom.
They will not have to worry about not having a book like other students because they can build a great notebook from the materials I have provided to them from my donations. They will also see that someone outside of their community cared enough to help them because they believed in them and their education.
