Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach pre-kindergarten at a small, neighborhood school in Central Florida. Our school is a Title I school and the majority of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. We are growing our pre-k program and will be starting our second year.
The majority of our students start pre-k speaking only Spanish and need an authentic experience to foster a love of learning and an introduction to vocabulary in these subject areas.
Our students are like little sponges as they are ready and willing to participate in these new activities!
My Project
Pre-Kindergarten students need open ended activities that encourage creativity, cooperation and critical thinking while learning and playing! Activities such as Bamboo Blocks foster these skills in the classroom as students plan, build and work together!
When given the opportunity, young children fall in love with learning through engaging activities that are often provided through a variety of materials.
By integrating mathematics, literacy, music, science and art, children are well balanced academically and socially. Materials such as Apple Alphabet Sliders and Rhythm Sticks work to develop different areas of the brain which is so important in early childhood education.
Developing Early Skills in Pre-K is an investment in the children in my room and the children that will be leading our world someday!
