This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Over the last few years I've been collecting a wide array of science books for students in my STEM class to read. I use them as read alouds when introducing different science subjects, and I recently built a science library that's accessible for all students. My wonderful library has been growing, but as I sorted it by science strands, I noticed that I was limiting my students' access to books about physical science, earth, and space science.

The more exposure that students have to literature, the more knowledge and meaningful connections they will make between the books and the world around them.

This project is going to provide a large enhancement to my library for physical science books, as well as Earth and space science concepts. I'm also requesting one science poster about women in science that I can add to my science library space.

I am fortunate to teach all of the students at my school from grades K-6, which gives me the ability to teach a wide array of content to my students. With each concept, I want to provide DIY experiments they could do at home, learn about experts in the STEM field, and read about real science in their backyards and across the globe.
