My students need 8 tablets with cases and SD cards in order to access students online curriculum.

My Students
A typical day in my classroom include students waiting for an available computer or laptop in order to complete the necessary courses required for graduation. Students are assigned the courses they need by their counselor and complete them using the District approved site Acellus.
Many of my students are those often written off in our society, but I refuse to write them off.
These teenagers are those who have extreme behavioral disorders and have been placed in an alternative setting. What I've learned over the last few years is that they enjoy and thrive with the required on-line classes. Many are visual learners. This is why I believe this program as been so successful.
Each student comes to a traditional classroom, but all of their courses are taken on-line. It is most unfortunate that we only have a few working computers at a time. To help with the lack of computers I've created work stations to rotate the students from the computer to writing or study stations. It would be awesome to have additional tablets so more students could have more time on-line.
My Project
Acellus has created an app for students to easily access the courses they've been placed in. The tablets would be a cost efficient way for more students to access online courses required by the state of Missouri for graduation. To help ensure that the tablets last, I've included shock resistant cases and screen protectors. Headphones were also added to reduce sound.
We are currently using an on-line program licensed and purchased by the St. Louis Public School district. Each student is assigned classes required for a high school diploma in the state of Missouri. These classes include not only the four core classes (math, science, social students, and English) but many electives are taken on-line as well (music appreciation, health, personal finance, etc.)
So many of my students get discouraged with school when they fall far behind.
What I love most about this program is that it allows students to work not only at school, but anywhere they can access the Internet. They can control their graduation date. This has allowed many students to recover credits they may have lost with extended suspensions or non-attendance. A high school diploma will help with a realistic chance of an honest survival.
