This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Destination Imagination is a fun, hands-on program that fosters students' creativity, courage, and curiosity through open-ended academic challenges in the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), fine arts, and service learning. The program allows my students to experience the components of the Creative Process: recognize, imagine, initiate & collaborate, assess, and evaluate & celebrate.
My school currently enrolls about 1,450 students and Destination Imagination allows students to express their creativity and explore the field of STEM.
My students were excited to win the state Destination Imagination tournament and now have a chance to represent our school, community, at State at an international STEM competition.
My Project
The funds requested will pay for my team of students to attend the Destination Imagination Global Finals International STEM competition in Knoxville, TN. This project would cover team registration, event passes, and lunches for 9 students and the team manager. During this trip, students will interact with students from all over the United States and various countries all over the globe. Last year, 1,470 teams competed at Global Finals with more than 17,000 participants and visitors.
The group of students have worked numerous hours before school, during lunch and recess time, after school, and on the weekend to achieve their goal of reaching Global Finals.
After winning first place in their Scientific category at the affiliate tournament, the students are so excited for a trip to Tennessee and I hope to raise the money to make this possible. This would be an educational experience of a lifetime.
