My Project
"In order to be it, you have to see it!" This is a motto that I use to encourage my students every day. In my role as a postsecondary teacher, my main focus is to actualize my students' goals and ambitions after high school--with hopes that they are aiming to positively contribute to their communities through their chosen career fields. One of the largest barriers I face in making this happen is creating a space filled with resources and imagery that help to spark that ambition in my students.
My overall goal is for students to walk in and immediately feel inspired just by looking up.
The materials I am requesting (college pennants, SAT prep materials, organization materials, and the like) will help greatly in achieving that goal. I want my students--students who have consistently had the odds stacked against them and aren't often in spaces where inspiration happens--to step into my space and know that they have a high chance of actualizing the future plans they have set for themselves. My hope is that, through your contributions, students and all other classroom visitors will be overcome with positive energy, drive, ambition, and trust that in this space, their goals will come to fruition!
