This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember how excited you were to go on field trips? My students deserve to explore things beyond the walls of a classroom.

My 1st graders are curious learners who love coming to school everyday.

They love learning about the world around them. They live in a high poverty area in Northern California and they face the usual challenges associated with poverty. They are energetic, curious, and are thriving academically.

My Project

My students learn about different animals, and habitats in the classroom. Many of them however have not seen these things in real life. My students would be so amazed to see "sea life" up close. They live so close to such great places like the Aquarium of the Bay, but many of them have never had the opportunity to go. My school is 100% free and reduced lunch. Budgets cuts and the financial statuses of my students' families means that I have to seek funding in order for my students to experience the same things as their wealthier counterparts at other schools.

Please help give my students something to look forward to, and provide them with memories that will stick with them for a long time.

I have worked at other schools where the parents are asked to fund buses, this is not an option for me. My students deserve the same experiences as others. Being able to see and touch things that they have only seen on textbooks or on television will be so meaningful for them!
