This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first graders attend a great school in Northern California. The school that I work for is in a high-poverty area. Some of my students face the normal things that are often associated with poverty. These obstacles do not impact their love for school. My students love to learn new things and are very excited about learning how to read.
I am very happy that I work at a school where the staff really believes that all students can achieve academic success with the right support and mindset.
My Project
Having iPads in the classroom is a great motivator and a way for my young students to have easy access to the digital world. I currently have 9 iPads in the classroom and 25 students. My short-term goal is to have enough for half of my students to access them at one time. There is a great educational app called Accelerated Reader, along with tons of others resources that I would like for my students to have easy access to.
If it was not for the generous donations of donors my students would not have access to this great resource.
My school doesn't have a PTA or other funding where teachers can go to and request common resources. So your generosity is greatly appreciated.
