My Students
Raising your hand to answer a question is overrated. There are so many ways to use technology to get kids motivated and engaged in your lesson.
My school is a pre-kindergarten through 4th grade school.
I teach fourth grade in a Title I school in Mississippi. Although we are not located on a military base, we do educate military families and have teachers who are veterans. My students come from various backgrounds and with a variety of skills and abilities.
My students come to me still lacking many of the skills they need to be successful readers and mathematicians, which is why using small group instruction and keeping my students engaged in the lesson is so important.
My Project
The innovative nature of the implementation of technology opens the door for endless student-centered activities. I'm requesting two iPad minis and covers.
Exit Ticket will be used for students to "show" what they have learned from either a center lesson or that day, so that I can differentiate my lessons for the next day. KaHoot! will be used as a question and answer game where the students will earn points for answering questions correctly. This will allow me to gage their learning from the activity and adjust as necessary.
Integrating technology and the Common Core Standards will prepare my students for the challenging jobs of the future, as well as allow me to meet my students where they are in the learning process.
