This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

All parents cherish those special projects that their children create in elementary school. I enjoy having my students create memory books filled with photos and writing about their experiences in 1st grade.

I have curious first grade students who love learning!

They attend school in a high poverty area in Northern California. The school receives 100% free lunch. Some of my students face the normal hurdles associated with poverty. My students are happy to learn and be in school. They thrive academically despite the obstacles they may face.

My Project

I am requesting some basic resources like pencils and erasers. These items always seem to be in high demand and low supply. I am also requesting sheet protectors, ink, and memory cards. These items will help create our yearly memory books. I take pictures over the course of the year of my students. Towards the end of the year, I develop and/or print the pictures and the students write about each photo, and make a scrapbook style memory book. The finish project is very nice, and somewhat costly.

My students and their families will cherish these memory books for years to come.

I do not have the luxury of asking my parents to help with supplies by giving them a "wish-list" like some teachers who work in wealthier schools do. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated!
