it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you know what it is like to teach without a curriculum? The new common core standards are here, but my school district has yet to adopt a new math curriculum.
My students are inquisitive active first graders who love coming to school each day.
They love learning new things. Many of them have just discovered the joy of reading. They live in a low-income area in Northern California. Some of then face the usual hurdles that are associated with poverty. These hurdles have not impacted their love for learning.
My Project
There are new standards that I am expected to teach my first graders (Common Core) in order for them to have success in their educational futures. My district has not adopted a new math curriculum. I am always looking for resources online for my students, and I often do not find what I need. I am requesting various math workbooks that are in-line with the new standards. I am also asking for one reading workbook to help with the new reading standards as well. I am also asking for some basic supplies for my classroom. I am asking for primary pencils, which my students seem to go through quickly. I am also requesting some paint for our various art projects. I am also asking for rechargeable batteries to power up various portable learning devices.
The donations will allow my students to have better access to the new common core standards.
The donations will also make sure that my students have access to some basic supplies. Because of the financial statuses of my students' families I cannot send home wish lists like teachers do in other schools. Without the generous donations of donors, my students will likely not have access to some of these resources.
