This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine teaching first grade without adequate access to paper? I am now in my second week of teaching first grade and I have not received any paper yet. When the paper shipments do come, I am only allotted two reams a month of standard sized paper (not always white).

I have great first grade students who are very eager to learn!

They live in a high poverty area in Northern California. They love coming to school every day and deserve to attend a classroom that is fully stocked with the supplies they need to learn.

My Project

I am asking for paper, which is a necessity in a primary classroom. With modern technology, we are able to use less paper, nonetheless having a supply of paper is still very necessary for my young students to practice writing, math equations, spelling, art projects etc.

Having a supply of paper on hand will ensure that might students have access to what they need to thrive in first grade.

Many of my students need a lot of practice with basic handwriting among other things. Paper is needed to practice these skills.
